Supporting National Voter Registration Day
September 17, 2024
Today is National Voter Registration Day, a nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to celebrating our democracy.
The national holiday helps Americans register to vote; sign up for election reminders; request mail-in ballots; and learn about their early voting options.
HAP and Pennsylvania hospitals are encouraging their staff and communities to make their voice heard on election day—and there are some key deadlines everyone should know.
In Pennsylvania, voters can register online. The last day to register to vote before the General Election is Monday, October 21. Any voter may apply for a mail-in ballot by no later than Tuesday, October 29. Completed ballots must be received by your election board by 8 p.m. on election night.
In honor of National Voter Registration Day, here are five things to know about voting and voter registration:
- Options for voting: All registered Pennsylvania voters can cast their ballot by mail or in-person. You do not need an excuse to apply for a mail-in ballot.
- On election day: Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day. Find your polling place here.
- Check your status: It’s important to make sure your information is up to date. You can find your voter registration status online.
- Be mindful: Voter registration is not done over the phone. Be wary of calls or texts from bad actors looking to perpetrate a scam.
- Have questions?: Your county’s election office is an important community resource. View information about your county’s election officials here.
HAP’s election website serves as a nonpartisan, one-stop shop for hospital teams and the community to learn about candidates and where they stand on health care issues, find important election information, and access voting resources. For more information contact Jake Felker, HAP’s director, political engagement; or Liam Migdail, HAP’s vice president, strategic communications.
