Pa. Reps Call for CMS to Improve Payment to Hospitals

The 2025 inpatient prospective payment system fails to reimburse hospitals for the cost of care, a bipartisan group of Pennsylvania’s delegation told CMS.

In a letter this week—signed by Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Mike Kelly (R-PA), Dwight Evans (D-PA), and Susan Wild (D-PA)—the representatives called for the agency to account for hospitals’ rising costs and ongoing financial pressures.

“Continuing staffing shortages for nurses and clinical care support have created disruptions in care and have increased care delivery expenses that outpace payment rates, placing considerable strain on Pennsylvania’s hospitals and health systems,” the letter said.
