HAP Response to PA Governor's Budget
February 04, 2025
Harrisburg, PA (February 4, 2025)—The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) today reacted to Governor Josh Shapiro’s proposed 2025–2026 state budget. HAP President and CEO Nicole Stallings released the following statement:
"HAP thanks Governor Shapiro for prioritizing investments to strengthen access to care in Pennsylvania communities.
The governor’s 2025–2026 proposed budget includes critical funding to support the health care workforce, recognize the financial distress of hospitals, and continue to take steps to expand access to behavioral and maternal health care. At a time when more than half of the commonwealth’s acute care hospitals are operating at a loss and workforce shortages persist across health care settings, these investments are important steps towards ensuring that hospitals can continue to support the health and economic vitality of their communities."
"Strong Pennsylvania communities depend on strong hospitals. Prioritizing access to care is fundamental to policy decisions leading to better health outcomes, reduced health care costs, and economic stability of Pennsylvania communities. HAP and Pennsylvania’s hospital community look forward to working with the governor and General Assembly to advance policies that ensure hospitals can continue to serve their communities."
