Grants Available to Support the Health Care Workforce
March 19, 2025
A new grant program is helping to build Pennsylvania’s workforce pipeline for health care and other in-demand careers.
Last week, state officials announced applications for the Grow PA Scholarship Grant Program are now available.
“When we created Grow PA last year, we set out with one goal in mind: helping connect Pennsylvanians to good careers that are in demand throughout the state,” Senator Scott Martin, who authored the law creating the program, said in a statement. “Through this program, we will encourage more young people to come here, stay here, get jobs here, plant their roots, and build their lives here. It’s a critical step to help Pennsylvania deal with the economic and demographic challenges we face in the years ahead.”
The program provides funding to support in-demand occupations in health care and other fields. HAP successfully advocated for health care to be included among the targeted occupations when the program was created as part of the 2024–2025 state budget.
To be eligible for grants (up to $5,000 per year), applicants must:
- File a 2025–2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®)
- Be a current resident of Pennsylvania
- Meet satisfactory academic progress for Title IV financial aid
- Have not earned a bachelor's degree
- Be enrolled at least half-time at an approved institution and enrolled in an eligible program of study as determined by PHEAA
- Sign a Master Promissory Note agreeing to repay all funds received if the work requirement is not met, including any potential interest accrued
Grow PA Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The awards are based on the date of receipt for completed applications.
The program applications are available online.
