Celebrating National Hospital Week

May 13, 2024

National Hospital Week puts a spotlight on the ways Pennsylvania’s hospitals and health systems are always there for our communities.

This week, HAP, the American Hospital Association (AHA), and organizations around the nation are celebrating our hospitals and health systems. The annual celebration started yesterday and runs through Saturday.

“During National Hospital Week, we say thank you to Pennsylvania's hospitals and health systems for always caring for our communities,” HAP President and CEO Nicole Stallings said. “Pennsylvania’s hospitals are worldwide leaders, driving innovation across the commonwealth, while working every day to create a healthy Pennsylvania for all. “During National Hospital Week, we recognize hospital teams for their tireless commitment to their patients, to their communities, and to providing high-quality care.”

This week, HAP is highlighting the ways Pennsylvania hospitals support communities by:

  • Delivering $9 billion in community benefit
  • Supporting 590,186 jobs across the commonwealth
  • Participating in 97 percent of the more than 130,000 statewide births this year
  • Partnering with higher education institutions (99%) and high schools (92%) to grow the workforce
  • Bringing nearly $1.9 billion in research awards from federal agencies to Pennsylvania

HAP encourages everyone to support National Hospital Week by posting on social media with the #NationalHospitalweek hashtag. Tagging @HAPUpdates on X or HAP on LinkedIn is also is encouraged. This week is the perfect time to celebrate what your local hospital means to you.

Additionally, the AHA has published a digital toolkit with graphics and messaging to support your communications efforts.

Thank you to all Pennsylvania’s health care teams for always supporting our patients and our communities.
