Celebrate National Hospital Week in Your Community

May 08, 2023

This week, HAP, the American Hospital Association (AHA), and organizations throughout the nation are celebrating the outstanding work of hospital teams to improve the health of our patients and communities.

During National Hospital Week, we encourage all Pennsylvanians to join in the celebration of hospitals, health systems, and health care workers and the innovative ways they are supporting and connected to their communities. This year, the weeklong celebration continues the “We Are Healthcare” theme.

In advance of this year’s celebration, State Representative Paul Schemel (R-Franklin) has introduced a resolution to commemorate National Hospital Week in the General Assembly.

“More than a quarter-of-a-million Pennsylvanians work in the commonwealth’s hospitals, providing 24/7/365 care for our families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues when they need it most,” Schemel wrote in a co-sponsorship memo last month.

HAP is highlighting the invaluable role hospitals play in their communities by:

  • Supporting 1 in 10 jobs statewide
  • Generating $168 billion in economic activity
  • Providing $884 million in uncompensated care
  • Saving 46,000 lives annually at Pennsylvania trauma centers

Join HAP and the AHA as we celebrate National Hospital Week. HAP has created a toolkit with social media graphics, key messages, and other resources to share during this exciting time. The AHA also has developed a national resource to celebrate the event.

Thank you to all Pennsylvania’s health care teams for their outstanding contributions to our patients and our communities.
