On September 9, 2021, President Biden issued an executive order mandating that federal contractors and large employers, including hospitals, require their employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) also recently announced it intends to release an interim final rule in October requiring hospitals, dialysis facilities, ambulatory surgical centers and other facilities to vaccinate their staff as a condition for participating in Medicare and Medicaid.
Hospitals are now in the process of determining which rules apply and how to ensure that they are compliant.
