Promising Practices for Better Behavioral Healthcare
Dr. Scott Zeller, Vice President, Leading Acute Psychiatry, Vituity

A huge driver of health care costs in the US is behavioral health—a crisis that has only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Scott Zeller, MD, will help us better understand how today’s behavioral health trends are impacting hospitals, and more importantly how hospital leaders across the country are preparing to deal with them.  Screening, integration, and emergency department (ED)-based interventions have the ability to optimize clinical behavioral health resources, improve outcomes for patients, and reduce cost of care.

During this session, we’ll explore:

  • Real issues that are driving the increase in demand as well as the industry evolution that is creating the supply constraints
  • Regulatory pressures that are building and putting increased strain on hospitals ability to operate
  • Insights on how hospitals are working to address this problem in their own facilities
9:25 AM

Mental Health, Social Justice and COVID-19: Equity in Mental Health Framework
Dr. Alfiee Breland-Noble, Founder, AAKOMA Project, Inc.

During the past 18 months, our communities and caregivers have been faced with a global health crisis that has abruptly changed the way many types of care are delivered and highlighted longstanding inequities in health outcomes. Widespread protests have also impacted a broader discussion around social justice and structural racism across the country. Hear from Dr. Alfiee as she explore the ways that the crises of the past year and how they have created opportunities to impact positive change in care delivery, policies, and communities at this critical moment in time.
