DAVE is an acronym for D ata A ssessment and Ve rification. The primary objective of the project is to increase the accuracy of assessment data submitted by long term care facilities and home health agencies. The data analyses, clinical review processes, and educational aspects of the DAVE project will support CMS’ program integrity and payment policy initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and monitoring of the health and safety of the recipients of care. The DAVE project began with a beta test of MDS assessments in 2002; Home Health (OASIS) reviews will begin in 2003.
