Governor Wolf Signs Key Measure to Increase Access to Health Care in Commonwealth

Today Governor Tom Wolf signed House Bill 1619—Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (Interstate Compact) legislation—into law as Act 112 of 2016. The legislation enables Pennsylvania to join an Interstate Compact that already includes 17 other states, allowing eligible licensed physicians in one state to treat patients in other states via telehealth and streamlines the licensing process for licensed physicians looking to practice in the state.

State House Passes Legislation to Revamp PA Stroke Center Law

By a vote of 192-0, the state House passed legislation sponsored by state Representative Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh) that would make key changes to Act 54 of 2012, currently referred to as the Primary Stroke Center Recognition Act.

Senate Committee Holds Hearing on Prescription Drug Prices

Pennsylvania hospital employment decreased by 100 jobs from August 2016 to September 2016, for total direct employment of 273,400. This is 2,700 more hospital jobs than one year ago, when the total number was 270,700.
