CDC Estimates Show Decline in Number of Drug Overdose Deaths in Pennsylvania

According to provisional data posted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of reported drug overdose deaths in Pennsylvania has declined by 18.8 percent over the last year (from 5,434 during December 2017 to 4,410 during December 2018).

News Release: Bloomberg Philanthropies Selects Pennsylvania Hospitals for Cutting-edge Opioid Learning and Action Collaborative

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is honored to announce the formation of HAP’s Opioid Learning Action Network (LAN). The LAN is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, which announced last year that it would award $50 million in grants across several states to combat opioid addition. Pennsylvania was selected as the first state to participate in the initiative.

PA Expands Statewide Health Information Exchange

Pennsylvania Hospitals Focus on Reducing Readmissions via Care Transitions

April 15, 2019

Preventing avoidable hospital readmissions continues as a priority for HAP and Pennsylvania hospitals. Research has found that acute and post-acute care organizations face unique challenges and barriers during care transitions which can affect readmissions. To address this opportunity, HAP’s Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) has launched a series of tools during the National Care Transitions Awareness Day on April 16.

PA Hospitals Encouraged to Submit Innovative Programs to 2019 HAP Achievement Awards

It’s no secret that Pennsylvania’s health care landscape is changing at an increasingly rapid pace and its hospitals and health systems are rising to that challenge through innovative programs to improve the quality of care, patient experience, and technology to meet the needs of the communities they serve. HAP members are encouraged to review the 2019 Achievement Awards Call for Entries and submit their innovative patient-centered initiatives that improve health care quality and efficiency and the health of their communities by March 1.
