More Than 470,000 Pennsylvanians Enroll Through Health Insurance Marketplace

February 18, 2015

Preliminary open enrollment data indicates that more than 470,000 Pennsylvanians selected health insurance plans or were automatically re-enrolled during the second open enrollment period through HealthCare.gov.

This is an increase of an estimated 150,000 individuals in Pennsylvania obtaining coverage. During the first open enrollment period, nearly 320,000 uninsured Pennsylvanians signed up for coverage through the health insurance marketplace.

Nationally, about 11.4 million consumers selected plans or were automatically re-enrolled through HealthCare.gov or state-based marketplaces. Of the 11.4 million, 8.6 million consumers selected a plan or were automatically re-enrolled using HealthCare.gov.

Open enrollment ended February 15.

The data covers the period through midnight on Sunday, February 15, to capture those consumers who signed up for affordable coverage in the final nine days.

HAP will continue to monitor and provide updates to members about health insurance enrollment as new information becomes available.
