News Release: HAP Statement on 2018 Midterm Elections
November 07, 2018
With heavy turnout across the commonwealth, voters yesterday elected Governor Tom Wolf (D) to another four-year term with new Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman (D), and reelected U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D). Pennsylvania’s Congressional delegation will have seven freshman members and dozens of new state senators and representatives will join their respective bodies in the state General Assembly.
Andy Carter, president and CEO of The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP), released the following statement after the results were finalized:
“Yesterday, a record number of Americans turned out to make their voices heard in the midterm elections. Voters in Pennsylvania and across the nation were clear: health care remains a top priority.
“HAP and Pennsylvania’s hospitals congratulate Governor Wolf, Senator Casey, and new and returning members of the state General Assembly and U.S. Congressional delegation. We look forward to working together to find collaborative solutions to address the opioid epidemic; to ensure access to affordable, comprehensive health care coverage; and to build a healthier Pennsylvania.”
