November is National Family Caregivers Month
November 05, 2018
More than 44 million Americans care for a family member, friend, or neighbor. Sponsored by the Caregiver Action Network, National Family Caregivers Month is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. The theme of this year’s celebration is Supercharge Your Caregiving! Celebrating family caregivers during this month enables all of us to:
- Raise awareness of family caregiver issues
- Celebrate the efforts of family caregivers
- Educate family caregivers about self-identification
- Increase support for family caregivers
The National Alliance for Caregiving also provides education and resources to celebrate the contribution of volunteer friends and family members who support loved ones with health or disability.
The Family Caregiver Alliance is recognized as the first organization in the U.S. to advocate for and support family and friend caregivers, and is celebrating their 40th anniversary.
HAP is committed to working with families and caregivers to improve the patient experience of care through the HAP Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). This enables HAP and Pennsylvania hospitals to benefit from the guidance of a diverse group of patients, family members, community leaders, and health care providers, as they work to improve the patient experience of health care.
If you want to make a difference in how health care is experienced by Pennsylvania consumers, consider joining the Council. Contact HAP’s Project Manager Janette Bisbee for more information.
