Pressure Injury Authority Online Survey Focuses on “Voice of the Patient”
June 22, 2018
The National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) has announced a new online consumer survey designed to solicit the “voice of the patient.” The survey provides critical information to inform the 2019 revision of Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Ulcers/Injuries: Clinical Practice Guideline.
NPUAP works with its international partners, the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel and the Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Alliance to incorporate new evidence into the third edition of the international guideline.
To ensure that it is addressing the needs of patients and families, the collaborative is asking individuals who have experienced a pressure injury and their caregivers (or those who worked to prevent one) to share their experience in an electronic survey.
Hospitals are encouraged to share this information broadly with health care consumers to ensure that the needs of the patient are being addressed in this clinical practice.
Through the Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN), engaging patients and their families is an important component of HAP’s work with Pennsylvania hospitals and health systems.
