Pennsylvania Hospitals Add 400 Jobs in May

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry reports that Pennsylvania hospitals employed 275,400 workers in May 2017. This preliminary May jobs number represents a 400 job increase over the April 2017 hospital jobs and nearly a three percent (3%) increase over the May 2016 hospital jobs (267,700).
Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was up one-tenth of a percentage point from April to 5.0 percent in May. This was the second one-tenth increase following four consecutive declines. The commonwealth’s rate remained above that of the United States (4.3%), which decreased one-tenth of a percentage point from April.
