HAP Welcomes Daniel Smedley as Special Assistant to the President and CEO

Effective April 24, Daniel Smedley has been appointed Special Assistant to Andy Carter, President and CEO of The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP).
In this position, Smedley will work with Carter and HAP’s senior staff on governance matters, coordination, and special projects.
Prior to joining HAP, Smedley served as the Executive Assistant to Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging, Teresa Osborne. Smedley assisted the Secretary with event logistics, coordination and collaboration on Aging Department initiatives, and public outreach and correspondence. Smedley was instrumental in the Department of Aging’s efforts on Alzheimer’s disease, and worked to advance the Department’s work on adult protective services, elder abuse prevention, and Pennsylvania’s Community Health Choices program.

Smedley earned a bachelor of science in public administration from Shippensburg University and served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
Smedley resides in Elizabethtown with his wife, Caitlyn, who works as a registered nurse.
