PA Moves Forward with Medical Marijuana Implementation

January 18, 2017

Secretary of Health Dr. Karen Murphy released applications for grower/processor and dispensary licenses for Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana program. Applications will be accepted until March 20, 2017.

Questions regarding the application process should be sent to ra-dhq4app@pa.gov. The department will accept questions until February 8, 2017.

The Department of Health has published a frequently asked questions document on the medical marijuana program’s website. The department plans to include responses to the questions received regarding the application processes to this document.

Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana program—Act 16 of 2016—became effective on May 17, 2016.  The program is designed to provide medical marijuana to Pennsylvania residents who are under a physician’s care for the treatment of certain medical conditions.

HAP will continue to provide updates about the Pennsylvania medical marijuana program implementation process.

For additional information about the regulatory process, contact Mary Marshall, HAP’s director, workforce and professional services. Clinical inquiries should be directed to Michael J. Consuelos, MD, HAP’s senior vice president, clinical integration.
