The Department of Health has issued a target date of early 2018 for Pennsylvania grown medical cannabis to process into medical marijuana for distribution through Pennsylvania dispensaries to certified and registered patients. HAP is hosting a series of webinars to provide an overview of the new law, discuss its impact on hospital operations, and address the various legal issues it raises for members both as providers and employers. Part I will provide an overview of Act 16, Part II will offer insights on inpatient considerations and Part III will address medical marijuana in the workplace. Part 1: Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act 16 Overview (Recording Only)

Part 2: Medical Marijuana in the Workplace (1/24/18)

January 24, 2018 - noon - 1 p.m.

Now that Pennsylvania has approved the use medical marijuana, employers will start to face a myriad of difficult issues as employees begin to use medical marijuana.

Questions you may be asking yourself:

  • Will I have to allow the use of medical marijuana at work?
  • I have a drug free workplace and perform drug tests. Will I have to accommodate off-work use of medical marijuana?
  • What about employees who want to use medical marijuana to treat work related injuries or to alleviate a disability? Will workers comp or group medical pay the bills?

Part 3: Inpatient Considerations (2/7/18)

February 7, 2018 - noon - 1 p.m.

Join us for Part III of the medial marijuana series. Hear from the Minnesota Hospital Association and a Minnesota hospital who will share their policies and experiences for patients requesting to continue medical cannabis during a hospital stay. Additionally, our expert faculty will discuss topics ranging from the pharmacological considerations and its impact on patients, interactions with medical staff, pain management and storage of medical marijuana in the facility.
