The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is a not-for-profit trade association based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which advocates for nearly 240 Pennsylvania acute and specialty care hospitals and health systems including primary care, subacute care, long-term care, home health, and hospice providers, as well as the patients and communities they serve.

HAP’s employees represent its membership in the legislative, regulatory, and health policy arenas in Harrisburg, Washington D.C., and regionally, including the southeast.

The HAP team supports the association’s goal of advocating for a health care delivery environment that enables hospitals and health systems to provide accessible, affordable, quality care to all Pennsylvanians.

Director, Quality Initiatives

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking a director, quality initiatives. This position is responsible for the overall management of the quality programs and contracts, including our CMS contract, contract performance and compliance and is responsible for managing and coordinating resources, including any subcontractor resources, to ensure that all contract tasks and deliverable are met.

Candidates for consideration must have a bachelor’s degree with experience in and knowledge in clinical care, health care organizational quality improvement and project management. Registered nurse with at least five years of clinical experience required. Master’s degree and certification in project management preferred. Previous experience in managing large-scale quality improvement projects for a large health care organization or multiple health care organizations. Experience in managing teams of diverse individuals, including managing projects that require outside consultants or contractors. Previous experience in managing contracts or grants with state or federal governmental agencies strongly preferred. Experience in leading quality improvement projects, analyzing data, developing strategies for performance improvement, and writing reports. Demonstrated skills in meeting facilitation, project management, building consensus, collaborative problem solving, negotiation, and active listening; demonstrated critical thinking, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Supervisory skills and oversight experience for managing clinical and non-clinical staff successfully manage multiple priorities and responsibilities; demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.

Senior Administrative Assistant

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking a senior administrative assistant. This position will be responsible for providing administrative support to the executive office, including the President and CEO and the Chief Strategy Officer, act as back up to the Special Assistant to the President, and perform other duties as assigned.

Candidates for consideration must have advanced secretarial training or administrative certificate or Associates Degree in related field preferred, with five years of progressively responsible experience in a high performance team environment. Proficiency with personal computer (Microsoft office and email) and other general business and audio-visual equipment is mandatory. Individuals must be well organized and detail oriented. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, take initiative, and possess the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.

Project Manager, Readmissions (part-time or full-time)

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking a full-time project manager for the Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) readmissions project. The project manager works directly with the hospital and the HIIN director to implement the assigned projects and to support the deliverables for the Quality Initiatives department and the Partnership for Patient’s Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) contract through the identification of education program topics and development of program curricula. Assesses participating hospitals’ needs; designs, develops, implements, and evaluates education programming to support program goals. Oversees and/or manages all aspects of program logistics.

Candidates for consideration must be a registered nurse, social worker or case manager with a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of recent clinical experience in acute or home health care, project management experience preferred. Knowledge regarding hospital readmission best practices, discharge planning and transitions of care across the health care continuum required. Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as writing abilities. Leadership experience a plus. Behavioral health experience a plus.

Experience in leading quality improvement projects, analyzing data, developing strategies for performance improvement, and writing reports. Ability to work independently and as facilitator of a team to achieve goals. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including competency with Word, Excel, and the Internet.
