The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is a not-for-profit trade association based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which advocates for nearly 240 Pennsylvania acute and specialty care hospitals and health systems including primary care, subacute care, long-term care, home health, and hospice providers, as well as the patients and communities they serve.

HAP’s employees represent its membership in the legislative, regulatory, and health policy arenas in Harrisburg, Washington D.C., and regionally, including the southeast.

The HAP team supports the association’s goal of advocating for a health care delivery environment that enables hospitals and health systems to provide accessible, affordable, quality care to all Pennsylvanians.

HAPevolve Regional Account Executive

HAPevolve, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP), is seeking a Regional Account Executive. This position will develop, maintain, and expand relationships with HAP members and HAPevolve clients.

This position will represent the entire range of HAPevolve products and services which include a range of solutions to financial, operational, clinical and regulatory compliance challenges. The successful candidate will lead the account planning cycle and ensure assigned client needs and expectations are met.

This person will work closely with HAPevolve leadership to develop new product offerings and deploy them to market. Responsibilities will include achieving a sales quota and assigned strategic account objectives.

Candidates for consideration must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and five to seven years of health care experience in either acute, post-acute, or ambulatory care, or sales and business development
  • Experience connecting with health care senior leadership is preferred

This position will require 70 to 80 percent travel in Pennsylvania.

Administrative Assistant

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking an Administrative Assistant for our Advocacy and External Affairs division. This position is responsible for providing administrative support for the Senior Vice President, Advocacy and External Affairs, members of the Legislative Advocacy team, and the Communications and Public Affairs team.

Candidates for consideration must have: 

  • Advanced secretarial training, administrative certification, or associate degree in related field preferred
  • Two to four years of broad administrative support experience
  • Association or communications background is a plus
  • Proficiency with personal computer (Microsoft Office, Adobe, and graphics) is mandatory; and working knowledge of general business and AV equipment (LCD projector and laptop).
  • Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation), as well as grammar and proofreading skills
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details, and a creative flair for layout design will serve this position well

This position requires the ability to interact in a positive manner, prioritize multiple deadlines, work independently, and be a team player. We are looking for an individual who takes initiative and is willing to take on new and varied assignments. This position also requires the ability to deal tactfully with all levels of corporate staff, membership, and external contacts.

Accountant

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking an accountant. This position is responsible for assisting the controller in all functions of the association’s financial operations, as directed, including analysis and reconciliation of financial activity for the association, its subsidiaries, and affiliated organizations. In addition, responsibilities will include monitoring for compliance with federal contracts.

Candidates for consideration must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Two to five years of accounting experience
  • Proficiency in using a computer and applications such as Excel and Word

Experience using Microsoft Dynamics SL is preferred. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.

Administrative Assistant/Education Coordinator

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking an administrative assistant/education coordinator. The administrative assistant/education coordinator will provide administrative support for HAP's quality and population health division.

This position is responsible for coordinating the planning and implementation of quality cost-effective education programs, and managing the registration process for education programs and conferences, meeting planning, webinar implementation and associated record keeping. In addition, the incumbent will work with HAP's project managers and subcontractors to provide assistance in the submission of various deliverables to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Candidates for this position must have:

  • Two to four years of broad administrative support with meeting planning experience
  • Proficiency with a personal computer (Microsoft Office including Outlook) and other general business and audio-visual equipment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Statistical aptitude
  • Ability to maintain confidential information

The preferred candidate also will have:

  • Advanced secretarial training, administrative certification, or an Associate Degree in a related field and/or a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation
  • Previous work with hospital quality metrics

Individuals must be well organized and detail-oriented. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, take initiative, and possess the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.

Project Director/Senior Research Analyst

The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania is seeking a Project Director/Senior Research Analyst. This position will conduct thoughtful, rigorous policy research about a broad range of policy areas (e.g. Medicaid and Medicare, the uninsured, quality of care, care coordination, health information technology, public reporting) in support of the association’s strategic goals, objectives, and annual work plans.

The selected candidate will:

  • Lead the development of and management for member surveys
  • Conduct literature/evidence reviews
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative studies that will serve as the basis for new policy initiatives
  • Support activities affecting health systems, hospitals, and public health
  • Produce written materials disseminating findings
  • Represent HAP before various health stakeholders, including members and the health research community

Candidates for this position must have:

  • A master’s degree in public policy, business, economics, or related social science
  • Five to ten years of experience in policy research, hospital economics, health care finance, or health care consulting

Project management training and association research experience is a plus. We require demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office. Preference given to candidates demonstrating experience with business intelligence tools (Tableau), database management software (Access, SQL), literature review databases (EBSCO, PubMed), statistical software (Alteryx, R, SPSS), qualitative research software (NVivo) and survey software (Qualtrics, Survey Monkey).

In addition, excellent communication skills, project management/organizational skills, supervisory and mentoring skills, statistical/data analytics skills, math skills, collaboration/interpersonal skills, and critical thinking/problem solving skills are vital to the success of this position.
